Welcome to my crafting blog. After retirement, my husband and I moved to a beautiful location in the Okanagan area of British Columbia. I love all paper crafts including mixed media, journaling and cards. I also dabble in papermaking, photography, fibre art, and altered books. I am an active member of several card and mixed media groups and on the design team of several challenge blog. I love the world of blogging, it has opened many doors for me. Christmas Challenge - Christmas Tin

This is my last project for our annual Christmas Challenge which runs for the Month of December at Come and Get It. Traditional we all take the month off to be able to spend the time with our friends ands and families but what is different this year this that that this year we have decided that this will be our final challenge. We have all enjoyed doing the challenge each week, but due to reasons out of our control, we can no long run the challenge - so the time has come to end it on a good note.  Come and Get It has been running for 6 plus years and I have been on the from nearly the beginning.  I have made so many special friends and enjoyed the challenges using the wonderful images of our lovely sponsors. 

To make my decorated popcorn tin I used and image from one of our great sponsors of Come and Get It over the years, Polkadoodles


.  The image is called Rudy, Winnie, and Holly the Christmas Unicorn.  I am going to fill my tin with Christmas goodies for a special friend.

Merry Christmas from Crafty Cardmakers




Merry Christmas from the Crafty Cardmakers team. This is our last challenge of 2017 and the theme is Christmas.

I made this Christmas card for a friends little new born daughter's first Christmas.  The image is by Mo's Digital Pencil.  I coloured the image is coloured with Copics, diamond glaze, white gel pen,  and a glitter pen.  I added stars, trees and a sentiment to finish the card.

Anything but a Card Challenge at Polkadoodles

Happy Friday Everyone!!

The theme of this week's challenge at Polkadoodles is "Anything but a Card".

 For my  project this week I made an altered clock.   I have used several beautiful Christmas images and designer paper from the Work & Play 5 - Festive HollybobsI coloured my images with Copics, gell pen, wink of Stella and glitter. The clock was painted with acrylic paint , Posca Pens and the snow was created by grading Styofoam and adding glitter.

Christmas Challenge at Come and Get It Challenges

This is my card for our annual Christmas Challenge which runs for the Month of December at Come and Get It. Traditional we all take the month off to be able to spend the time with our friends ands and families but what is different this year this that that this year we have decided that this will be our final challenge. We have all enjoyed doing the challenge each week, but due to reasons out of our control, we can no long run the challenge - so the time has come to end it on a good note.  Come and Get It has been running for 6 plus years and I have been on the from nearly the beginning.  I have made so many special friends and enjoyed the challenges using the wonderful images of our lovely sponsors. 



For my card I have used an image called Ski Lift  from one of our sponsors Cute as a  Button.

Here Comes Christmas


For this month's mixed media project at Creative Artiste I made a Christmas wall plaque using some creative chipboard from our sponsor Scrapmatts and Papertole

I used a Santa's head that I coloured in Panpastels  and stamped with a snowflake design stamp by Stampin Up then added it to the base of my plaque.  I added the chipboard circles and the Believe sentiment from Scrapmatts products. The holy leaves were a Tim Holtz's die cut.  The Santa's hat was covered with glitter and the Christmas ball and bow were added to complete the project.

Altered Canvas


Time for another challenge at Altered Eclectics this month, as always the theme is altered art or mixed media. I decided to make a altered Christmas canvas for this month's project.  I used many of my bits and pieces from old Christmas ornaments in my project along with some music findings and chipboard from my stash.

Christmas Tree Canvas


I am back with another project for Eclectic Ellapu.  I have made a christmas tree canvas using some old christmas pieces along with beads, gems, paint, stencils and recycled jewelry from my stash. 

It was a fun project to make.  This is the last challenge of the year at Eclectic Ellapu.   I hope you will join in.  We are taking a break in January but will be back in February for more creative fun.

Happy Holiday Moose

Time for another challenge at Crafty Cardmakers this week,  The theme of the challenge is Animal Magic. 

I used an old rubber stamp from my collection of a Moose by a company  called  Earth Art International. Copics, Pitt pens and a gelli pen were used to colour my image and  then I added a few gems, glitter and sentiment to complete the card.

I am excited, this is my first post as a DT member for Polkadoodles.  It is very exciting to be part of this talented team and to be able to work with Polkadoodles amazing products. 

 For my  card this week  I have used two lovely images from the Work & Play 5 - Festive HollybobsI coloured my images with Copics, gell pen and Pitt Artist pens. The snow was created by grading Styrofoam and added some glitter for sparkle.  I added ribbon and a bow to complete the card.

So So Pretty


Creative Artiste has a new mixed media challenge this month  hope you can join in the fun.  I made this canvas od my niece in her grad gown for this challenge.

To make my canvas I used scrapbook papers from my staff, silk flowers, spray inks by Lindy Stamp. panpastels, modelling paste, black pen, white pen, stencils,  findings and die cut.  It was a fun project to make.

Butterfly Art Journal


Altered Eclectics is having a mixed media challenge this month and the theme this month is as always anything goes but it must be altered art or mixed media.  No cards, atc etc are not allowed.

I have made any altered butterfly book for this challenge.  I used this book to try  different techniques and ideas that I wanted to try.  All of the pages front and background was created withe a gell plate.  I used materials such as napkins, encaustic wax, inks, cutting dies, sprays, stencils, acrylics, rubber stamps, and texture paste.

It is an anything goes challenge this month at Eclectic Ellapu and I made this Hope card for the challenge. 

The Hope stamp is by a friend of mine, Lisa from Local Rubber King.  I used Distressed Oxides for the background and added a butterfly by  Morgan Fitzsimons that was printed on an acrylic sheet and coloured white.

Thankful Challenge


Crafty Cardmakers this week has a Thankful Challenge and this is my autumn coloured card I made for this challenge. 

To make my Many Thanks card I used alcohol inks in autumn colours along with a set of unmounted rubber stamps that the maker of the stamps escapes me at this moment.  The sentiment is an old Stampin Up stamp.  I added ribbons and gems to  complete the card.

Spooky Challenge




Crafty Cardmakers is having a spooky challenge this week and I have made this altered Halloween box for the challenge.  I am going to use this Halloween box for my Halloween treats for the little trick or treaters coming to my door. 


The box was originally a boot box that I made a collage of a selection of Halloween napkins and scrapbook paper  to make the pattern.  I also added a lock, keys and a skeleton head to the top.  
I added lights to the inside of the skelton head so that the eyes would glow.
